It’s that time of year again... the Teece Museum and UC Classoc, with the support of Potteryworld, are pleased to present… Attic Art in the Attic! (the famous Greek pot painting art night).
The ancient Greeks sure knew a thing or two about painting vases. Want to try your hand at painting a pot, and be in to win prizes at the same time? Join us for Attic Art in the Attic, be inspired by the amazing ceramics on display in the Teece Museum, and put your creative talents to the test. You don’t have to be the next Andy Warhol (or Berlin Painter for that matter) to take part – just come ready to give it a go, and get to take home your very own potted Greek masterpiece.
$5 general public, free for current Classoc members. Refreshments will be provided.  Be sure to wear some old clothes or bring an apron.
Registrations will be required as seats are limited. Please register at: http://www.canterbury.ac.nz/…/u…/attic-art-in-the-attic.html

Re:ACTIVATE Aspiring Artist Exhibition

Re:ACTIVATE - Calling Young Artists
Have your public artwork idea made a reality!

Invitation to Aspiring Artists to Present Public Art in Hagley Park

This year SCAPE Public Art, supported by Lewis Bradford Consulting Engineers and Dominion Constructors, invite aspiring artists and designers (18 years of age and under) to have their artwork produced for public space.
SCAPE Public Art are offering an open call for young artists (junior and senior students) to respond to a brief and provide design proposals to create unique public artworks within Hagley Park. Re:ACTIVATE Aspiring Artists Exhibition is open to all for entry now until 1 June 2018

Submitted designs will be shortlisted and one design in each category will be produced for SCAPE’s six-week Season from 6 October to 17 November 2018Up to 20 artists submitted design proposals will be exhibited.

2017 saw the first open call for young people to submit designs for their work to be produced by SCAPE for the 2017 Re:ACTIVATE Kids and Teen exhibition. The standard of designs was impressive with young people from a range of schools, and independently submitting their work for consideration. The winner of the Kids section was Charlotte Bobichon with her piece Having a whale of a time! and Ruby Williams as the Teen winner with Imprint. Both 2017 winners embraced the opportunity, and thrived under the guidance of the highly knowledgeable technical teams of sponsors, to produce their work which was located in Hagley Park.

As seen on Stuff.
Full details and opportunity briefing detailed here.

The ATOM Photo Comp 2017 is sponsored by Ted’s Cameras and SAE.
This year’s theme is ‘My Backyard’.
Photography allows us to create our own unique interpretations of the world around us. The same place can have a different ‘feel’ in different situations. As a medium, photography offers many ways to explore a variety of perspectives on a location.
  • Take 3 original photographs that address this year’s theme;
  • Submit your 3 photos through our online entry system at atomphotocomp.org;
  • Write a short statement (no more than 300 words) and submit it with your entry.
